American Legion Background
The American Legion was created in 1919 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The founders were veterans of World War I who just returned from Europe. The purpose of this organization varies between organizing special commemorative events, lobbying for veterans’ interests and volunteerism. Currently there are about 3 million volunteers who keep this organization active.
American Legion Members Business Cards
Members of the American Legion can show their support for this organization in two ways. The first way is to design a business card that features the American Legion logo. This logo can be placed as a watermark in the center of their business card, it can be used as a full color backdrop for their business card or it can be placed in the upper right hand corner of the card as a postage stamp graphic.
The second way that members of the American Legion can show their support for this organization is to develop a member’s card. This card will feature information about the member’s American Legion unit, as well as their personal contact information. These cards can be used to promote the American Legion, to introduce members to other people and as recruitment tools.
Girls State and Girls Nation Programs
While the American Legion sponsors the Boys State and Boys Nation Programs, the American Legion Auxiliary sponsors the Girls State and Girls Nation Programs. If you work with one of these programs then you two can design a program focus business card. While designing your business card look for graphics that are patriotic and that also feature female characters. On the back of your business card print information that will interest young women who want to participate in your program.

Two important programs sponsored by the American Legion are Boys State and Boys Nation. These are civic training programs for teens. This card will feature graphics and pitch lines that are associated with the Boys State or the Boys Nation Programs, your name, job title and contact information. On the back of this card print information about Boys State or Boys Nation that will appeal to young men.
Promotional Business Cards
Another type of business card that members of the American Legion can develop is a promotional business card. These cards will focus on recruitment, fundraising or lobbying. Design elements and information will need to be selected that relate directly to the purpose of the card and they will need to be formatted so that they appeal to the card’s target.
